As some of you may now, we are currently in the process of moving to the Netherlands. Just as it was moving to the United States, there are all sorts of hoops to jump through to get back into the normal swing of things. You'd figure since I am a originally from the Netherlands that it would be easier, but if you have been out of the country for more then a decade they have trouble finding your old records. So, we have been in an avalanche of chicken and egg scenarios.
One of the things that took a long time was finding a place to live. After almost two months arriving in the Netherlands we finally have the keys to our new home. Although, we are renting the place. It is completely bare and we are installing flooring with the help of our friendly co-workers and friends. The place is just on the outskirts of Leiden in a town named Oegstgeest. It is a big milestone for us and we hope to move into the place, although we will continue to essentially live out of suitcase this week. Our container is waiting for us to jump through enough hoops so we can start the customs clearing process which will hopefully complete sometime next month.
It has been a crazy experience trying to move with our daughter in tow, but it is looking like we are slowly settling in. We would like to thank Dirk, Ardy, Pier and Satoko for their help in making our place more livable and we would like to thank Harrie for putting up with us for these last few weeks. I do not know what sort of place we would be moving into if it wasn't for his gracious offer to have us stay with him until we were able to find a place we liked.

PS klopt, Oestgeest haalt het niet bij Leiden !!

als 'eenzame' Vlaming wonend & werkend in Denemarken (vlakbij city of Aarhus - 2e stad van DK) volg ik ook sinds een tijdje met grote interesse het JOOST project, vooreerst omdat ik geen Deense kabeltelevisie heb, en ten tweede (hoe kan het ook anders) omwille van de fantistische naamkeuze. Ik heb al een tijdje terug al mijn collega's en Deense (schoon-)familieleden geïnformeerd over het op stapel staande JOOST project (al was het maar dat de Denen dan eindelijk eens mijn voornaam juist zouden leren spellen :-), maar heb nog geen invitatie voor beta download gekregen. Kun jij me er eentje sturen aub ? Dank bij voorbaat !

Hi Sander, welcome to Oegstgeest. Contrary to other reactions I think Oegstgeest beats Leiden! But I am a bit biased since i was born there and still live here. It is not a town but a village :-)

Sinds ik de geruchten gehoord hebt over Joost TV ben ik eigenlijk al geinterreseert in digitale P2P TV.
Het punt is nu, wanneer je Joost wilt gebruiken je ge-invite moet worden door iemand. Ik zou het erg waarderen als je me zou inviten.
Vooralsnog, succes met het project en ik hoop dat met name de documentaire zenders populair worden!

Ik kom van origine uit Leiden, ik woon nu in Rotterdam maar ben van plan om weer terug te verhuizen. Heel cool dat een bedrijf als Joost zich in Leiden heeft gevestigd en ik hoop dat het een even groot succes wordt als Skype.
Ik weet niet of je kan zeggen of Leiden van Oegstgeest wint. Het mooie is dat je zowel in Leiden als in Oegstgeest kan genieten van wat Leiden je te bieden hebt en je ook nog eens heel snel in Amsterdam, Rotterdam of Den Haag bent. Het appartement ziet er hip uit. Veel plezier in Leiden en Oegstgeest en heel veel succes met Joost!
